Description of the assignment
In order to support our continued growth in the UK we are looking to recruit a Business Engineer in our Central Office, in Warwick.
The purpose of the role is to support, develop and grow the business in the region with all estimating and business development aspects of a bid, ensuring that value engineered, high quality, and competitive proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the business strategy and procedures.
Key Tasks
Develop our relationships with key customers, to allow our growth in the ground improvement (Vibro Stone Columns, Vibro Compaction, Dynamic Compaction, Dynamic Replacement, CMC rigid inclusions, Prefabricated Vertical Drains, etc.) markets in the region.
Contact and visit key customers and build relationships to obtain feedback and provide presentations
Organise and attend corporate events.
Support award entries
Support the bid process to ensure that tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner.
Assist with design options and ‘value’ solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles.
Review tender documents (drawings, specifications, site investigation, and client requirements) and submission requirements, ensuring we evaluate all relevant information in the bid process
Ensure that innovative solutions are produced (if necessary liaise with the design team) and that all identified risks are mitigated
Prepare tender price schedules and documents (including clear technical and financial proposals) in accordance with the pricing strategy and risk assessments. Ensure that cost plans are accurate and reflect the project requirements and risk profile
Ensure effective communication with customers during and after the bid process to maximise our opportunities and to build long term relationships and encourage repeat work
Provide considered responses to customer questions including post tender queries
Ensure that the project operation and commercial teams have received an effective handover of bid documentation
Ensure feedback from commercial and operation team in relation to site production/results/payments/potential claims and assist/help them if necessary on solving issues
Ensure compliance with business strategy and authority levels
Where required manage live projects and gain a full understanding of operational process
Support the delivery teams, verifying the work of others in a timely and efficient manner, and providing expert technical support, including visits to site and meetings with customers.
Maintain personal expertise and knowledge to ensure that ground engineering is at the forefront of the industry both technically and in using the latest technologies and standards.
Contribute to the development of our marketing material including brochures, websites and data sheets.

Profile
The role requires a degree in a civil engineering or a geological subject and a valid CSCS card. Membership of a relevant professional body (ICE or GeolSoc) would be advantageous.
Technical/engineering knowledge of ground engineering processes is required. The individual will be both focussed and thorough and have the gravitas and professional credibility to advise senior management when something needs immediate redress together with the tenacity and drive to ensure that the necessary action is taken.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure. The individual will be customer centric in approach, with the ability to recognise potential opportunities in invitations to tender.
The role requires a capable person-manager, able to develop and coach teams, who is able to address HR issues promptly and robustly.
The individual should be customer centric and flexible in approach, they will have the strategic and creative insight to understand the range of opportunities in invitations to tender and be willing to challenge the norm. The individual will know ‘what good looks like’ in bid submissions and work winning and have hands on experience of leading technical aspects of work-winning bids in a timely manner.
The individual will be both focussed and thorough and have the gravitas and professional credibility to advise senior management when something needs immediate redress together with the tenacity and drive to ensure that the necessary action is taken.
The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the ground engineering business.
Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are necessary. Knowledge of AutoCAD would be advantageous.
Full UK Driving Licence is required.
