Steelwork Engineer

NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is fast growing with hybrid opportunities available up and down the country. We're striving to create a multidisciplinary team to offer our clients the best range of talent.
Supporting one of our key clients we are looking for a Steelwork Engineer to support on Hinkley Point projects within the civil engineering structures and soil geotechnics studies. Your role will be varied having the opportunity to coordinate with colleague across Europe. This is an embedded opportunity where you will be the face of Nuvia whilst supporting our client.
Responsibilities
As the Steelwork Engineer, you will also be involved in:
- Producing steelwork platform designs compliant with the Eurocode3 and ETC-C, other relevant codes.
- Liaising with the building layout and piping teams to coordinate the design.
- Maintaining QA procedures in delivering the Steelwork design.
- Coordinate CAD Design and work with the CAD designers in the preparation of the design drawings/models.
- Managing engineering changes in line with company procedures.
- Resolving identified technical issues.
- Receive, analyse, and verify the consistency of the input data.
- Produces the deliverables for which they are responsible (assumption notes, technical specifications, calculation notes).
- Perform design activities for fastenings and anchorages in concrete.
- Develop substantiation reports and complete surveillance of applicable technical documents.
- Perform technical verifications of civil engineering documents for their building.
- Create and maintain and responsible for the Design Risk Register.
- Responsible for anchorage design activities.
Qualification & Experiences
To be considered for the Steelwork Engineer role you should have:
- Design of seismically classified steel platforms and structures from concept to detailed design delivery.
- Knowledge of the design of reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete structures.
- Knows how to deal with the design and layout constraints.
- Use of 3D modelling and structural analysis tools.
- Understanding of the Eurocodes related to civil engineering and especially knowledge of the design of fastenings and anchorages in concrete.
- Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulations
- Experience in the nuclear sector and plant layout engineering would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of PWRs would be an advantage.
