Description of the assignment
HS2 is a brand new, low carbon high-speed railway critical in supporting the UK’s economic growth and tackling climate change. It will provide much-needed rail capacity and is integral to increased economic growth – helping to improve connectivity, create jobs and support the UK economy. Construction of HS2 is underway and the project is already supporting thousands of jobs and businesses around the country.
Role Purpose:
As a Trainee Site Operative you will have opportunity to learn a wide range of construction skills in a highly technical engineering environment.
Qualification:
You will also have the opportunity to obtain an NVQ Level 2.
Accountabilities:
There will be a wide range of duties including:
• Learning specialist techniques in post-tensioning.
• Supporting the project team with an interesting range of tasks.
• Maintaining a tidy site, to work in.
• Assisting with the installation of materials into structures.
• Understanding and collating of basic site records.
NVQ Overview:
• NVQ Standard: Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) Level 2
• Entry Requirements: This qualification is mainly taken by individuals seeking employment as construction operatives.
• Site visits from an assessor.
• Guidance and support from an internal mentor.
Profile
MUST BE AGED 18 or over
The following skills and experience are required:
• Showing a skill with hands and power tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, safe systems of work and emergency procedures.
• Excellent numeracy skills for material mixing.
• Complies with behavioural standards and the company’s drug and alcohol policy.
