Build a Legacy Project in the Marlborough Sounds

At HEB Construction, part of VINCI Construction, we deliver some of New Zealand's most complex civil infrastructure projects. We're proud to be partnering on the Picton Infrastructure Redevelopment Project, a nationally significant marine and transport infrastructure project that will enhance one of New Zealand's key gateway ports.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join the project team and play a pivotal role in planning and delivering this complex programme of works. This is an opportunity to contribute to a high-profile project involving challenging civil, marine and infrastructure construction methodologies. This role could be based on the project or potentially a FIFO arrangement within New Zealand.

The Opportunity

As Senior Estimator, you'll be responsible for developing accurate and comprehensive estimates across a diverse range of project scopes, working closely with engineering, commercial and delivery teams. This role is ideally suited to someone with strong experience estimating complex civil infrastructure projects and exposure to marine or port large scale development projects. Your expertise will help drive cost certainty, identify risks and opportunities, and support successful project delivery outcomes from planning through execution.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing detailed first principles estimates for major civil and marine construction works
  • Developing construction methodologies and staging plans to support pricing strategies
  • Managing quantity take-offs, subcontractor pricing and supplier engagement
  • Identifying project risks, opportunities and cost drivers
  • Supporting project planning, procurement and commercial decision-making
  • Collaborating with engineers, project managers and construction teams to optimise delivery solutions
  • Monitoring market trends, pricing movements and productivity assumptions
  • Assisting with forecasting, cost reporting and project controls as the project progresses

Profile

About You

You'll be an experienced Estimator who thrives on technically challenging projects and enjoys working collaboratively to solve complex construction challenges.

You'll also bring:

  • Significant experience estimating large-scale civil infrastructure projects
  • Experience within marine, waterfront, port, wharf or coastal infrastructure projects highly regarded
  • Strong first-principles estimating capability
  • Sound understanding of temporary works, staging, construction methodologies and sequencing
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Excellent commercial acumen and risk assessment skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities
  • Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or equivalent industry experience
