Let’s build better—together. Join us now.

Seymour Whyte is a leading Australian civil engineering company known for delivering complex and innovative projects that navigate challenging staging, engineering, environmental conditions, logistical constraints, and stakeholder impacts.

We are looking for a Construction Project Engineer V.I.E. F/M who will be excited to work on the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade – Stage 1 (QLD). Does it feel like a project you would be ready to take on? Keep reading!

What can you expect as a Construction Project Engineer @Seymour Whyte?

As part of the Seymour Whyte teams, you will play a key role in supervising a specific worksite area while working closely with construction teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and more.

Your key responsibilities will include, and not be limited to:

Project Delivery & Site Coordination

  • Track and report daily productivity for assigned tasks.
  • Assist with cost control and estimating as required by the Project Manager.
  • Develop, track, and report on work schedules as needed.
  • Help maintain the project’s drawing register as required.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

  • Handle all HSEQ duties as outlined in the Project’s Management Plans and related documents.
  • Identify and escalate risks that could affect the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of activities.
  • Manage quality production according to approved method statements and ITPs, monitoring construction progress to ensure acceptable quality.

Commercial & Procurement Support

  • Verify subcontractor claims and variations.
  • Manage procurement tasks, ensuring compliance with SWC governance and authority limits.

Profil

What about you?

You’ll be a great fit if:

  • You’re looking for a role that mixes fieldwork with project coordination, and you’re eager to get hands-on experience in construction.
  • You hold a master’s degree in civil engineering or construction and have initial experience in roadworks, railway projects, or civil engineering (infrastructure/TP), which aligns closely with the technical requirements of the role. These backgrounds are particularly relevant and will be given priority in our selection process.
  • You make Health & Safety a priority. You follow the rules and actively contribute to maintaining a safe work environment for everyone.
  • You’re comfortable using digital tools, especially Excel, and you can support planning tasks such as updating short-term schedules or reviewing project programs.
  •  You bring an analytical, detail-oriented mindset and feel confident navigating basic contractual procedures and working with different stakeholders.
  • You’re comfortable with the fast pace and direct communication of construction sites, and your can-do attitude helps you face challenges head-on.
  • You’ve got strong interpersonal skills and enjoy being part of a team. Your curiosity and openness make it easy for you to adapt and integrate quickly.
  • You speak fluent English and feel confident communicating in any context—on site, in meetings, or day-to-day—and you're excited about the opportunity to live and work in Australia, making the most of everything it has to offer.
  • You have your driver’s license, and you’re ready to move between sites if needed.

Next steps?

If you like what you’re reading and feel you could be up for the task, let’s meet!

We’ll have a first quick phone encounter to ensure we are aligned on what you’re looking for and what we can offer, before exploring these elements further during a second Teams meeting.

If we are still in step, it will be time for you to meet HR and operational members from Seymour Whyte.

Welcome aboard!

Pourquoi nous rejoindre ?

Why should you join @Seymour Whyte and @VINCI Construction as a VIE?

We’ll give you three reasons why this opportunity might be perfect for you:

  • You're starting your career – Looking for assignments that teach you something new every day?

Thanks to a VIE, what looks like 2 years on a resume is actually worth 5 years of experience. Léa, working in Toronto, says: “I'm learning so much, not only about the job and technical skills, but also about what it’s like to work in Canada. I feel like I’m discovering much more than I would in France at 25.”

But if you’re uncomfortable stepping out of your comfort zone, this might not be for you.

  • You need mentors to grow – Looking for a supportive work environment?

You’ll have experienced professionals guiding you and you’ll be part of Young Talents @VINCI Construction, a strong peer network. Thomas in New Zealand shares: “My manager made me feel part of the team from day one, and ensures I progress every day.”

But if you prefer working solo and don’t enjoy teamwork, this might not be the right fit.

  • You are looking for an environment which will keep you on your toes, make you wonder what’s the next challenge ahead?

Considered as a fully-fledged member of the Seymour Whyte team, you handle your own projects: it’s your call, your responsibility. Caroline, now on a local contract, says: “If I want more, they give me more.”

But if you enjoy a well-oiled routine, you might feel uncomfortable with us.
