Job title

VIE - Assistant Project Manager F/M

Contract type

International assignment contract

Description of the assignment

The Assistant Project Manager holds absolute accountability for the safe, commercially sound, and technically precise delivery of Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) projects. Acting as the definitive site-level leader, this role bridges the gap between client expectations, field execution, and our operational supply chain. The successful candidate will navigate the complexities of Ontario construction law, rigorously manage specialized subcontractors, and ensure the deployment of advanced sensor networks is executed to Sixense Group, and our Client’s Standards. This role requires a decisive professional capable of owning a project while uncompromisingly protecting site safety and data integrity.

YOUR MISSIONS WITH US:

Project Execution & Technical Delivery:

- Direct the full lifecycle of a dedicated I&M project, ensuring the precise installation and commissioning of technical assets (e.g., AMTS, VW Piezometers, Inclinometers, and telemetry) in strict alignment with approved Work Method Statements (WMS).

Commercial & Contract Control :

- Assume full P&L accountability for the project, setting and forecasting budgets with strategic financial management.
- Apply CCDC standard and modified contract frameworks and ensure strict procedural adherence to the Ontario Construction Act and Prompt Payment legislative requirements to protect project margins and cash flow.
- Lead project-level contract negotiations, identify scope creep immediately, and manage change-order mechanisms.

Safety & Risk Management :

- Take overall responsibility and accountability for the prevention of work-related injury and ill health, as well as the provision of safe and healthy workplaces and activities across the project site.
- Implement robust processes for the elimination of hazards and reduction of OH&S risks using the recognized hierarchy of controls.
- Develop, audit, and strictly enforce site-specific Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and Safe Work Procedures (SWP).

Subcontractor & Supply Chain Vetting :

Ensure that externally provided processes, products and services conform to requirements.
Manage specialized subcontractors (e.g., geotechnical drilling, hydrovac, and civils contractors) against Sixense technical, commercial, and safety standards throughout deployment on our project sites.

Stakeholder & Client Interface :

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the client’s project-level stakeholders, facilitating decisive communication regarding monitoring data, schedule milestones, and site access coordination.

Profile

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

Required Qualifications & Physical Demands (BFORs)

Technical Expertise : Deep knowledge of civil and geotechnical instrumentation techniques, alongside a strong background in interpreting geotechnical drilling and civil construction methodologies.

Legal & Jurisdictional Knowledge : Comprehensive working understanding of standard construction contracts (ideally, Ontario-specific legislation (OHSA, O.Reg 213/91, Construction Act)).

Driver’s License & Travel : Requires a valid license (ideally, Ontario ‘G’ class) with a clean driving abstract to operate company fleet vehicles.

Physical Capability : Must be capable of transitioning safely from a site-office environment to sustained physical presence outdoors in variable Ontario weather conditions.

Behavioral Competencies

- Demonstrates a proactive, commercially-focused mindset, prioritizing project controls and defending the commercial baseline against unapproved out-of-scope requests.

- Leads by example, fostering a culture of compliance and displaying zero tolerance for safety shortcuts by direct reports or specialized subcontractors.

- Exhibits effective decision-making under pressure, smoothly adapting to unforeseen site conditions or supply chain bottlenecks while keeping the project on schedule.

- Communicates complex geotechnical data, operational constraints, and project milestones to both technical teams and non-technical client representatives with absolute clarity.
