Description of the assignment

The Apprenticeship:

 

Apprenticeship Standard: Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) Level 2

Apprenticeship Length: 24 months, on site and 'classroom' learning

Entry Requirements:   This qualification is mainly taken by individuals employed or seeking employment as construction operatives.

 

The Role:

  • To work on construction projects such as motorway and highway bridge repairs, as well as new building construction.
  • To learn a wide range of specialist civil engineering skills, including:

               -   Cathodic protection installation

               -    Bridge bearing replacement

               -    General concrete repairs

  • The role will initially involve tasks including (but not limited to) the following:

                -    Learning specialist techniques in post-tensioning (dependent on project scope)

                -    Maintaining a tidy site

                -    Concrete Repairs (dependent on project scope)

                -    Installation of materials into structures

                -    Shuttering

                -    Collation of basic site records

Profile

  • MUST BE AGED 18 or over
  • Minimum GCSE-level education or equivalent
  • Fully literate with good numeracy skills
  • Dexterous with hand and power tools
  • Can follow written and verbal instructions, safe systems of work, and emergency procedures
  • Applies basic numeracy for material mixing
  • Complies with behavioural standards and the company’s Drugs & Alcohol Policy
  • Demonstrates best practice Safety Culture.
  • Communicates effectively, following instructions and sharing information clearly with others
  • Demonstrates good time management, organising tasks efficiently under supervision
  • Demonstrates punctuality and reliability, is physically capable of outdoor manual work year-round, and comfortable working at heights
  • Demonstrate proactive motivation, a positive attitude, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
