Position – Construction Asset Engineer
Location – Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, with regular visits to other local sites.
Hybrid working – 5 days on site with occasional working from home.
Arrangement – Staffed

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferable.
The Asset Engineer is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Leads with the delivery of the Comm-Ops Maintenance programme, ensuring that our plant is fit for its operational life and using your technical expertise to support the wider organisation.
You will perform governance and oversight of our contractors ensuring that assets meet their operational safety & performance requirements.
You will be responsible for helping to shape the next generation of Nuclear Power Stations in the UK, developing and implementing maintenance arrangements required for a safe and reliable plant. You will also provide technical oversight during construction of HPC, building up knowledge of Nuclear and Conventional systems in preparation for the handover of equipment from Commissioning. This is in preparation for the starting-up of Hinkley Point C (HPC) power station and the subsequent day-to-day technical management for 60-years of commercial operation.
Profile
The Asset Engineer’s day-to-day activities will include, but not limited to:
- Provide engineering oversight and technical support to assets pre/post-handover from commissioning
- Manage and oversee pre-operational maintenance routines, providing technical advice to maintenance technician team undertaking the work.
- Chair meetings, review documentation and assess contractor compliance to care and maintenance arrangements.
- Where plant issues are identified, provide technical expertise and knowledge to troubleshoot activities and ensure robust corrective actions are in place to resolve issues and prevent reoccurrence.
- Provide input into the development of standards, procedures and arrangements which support safe and reliable plant operations.
- Research operating experience from the wider nuclear industry applicable to the HPC project and promote its use and application to achieve World Class performance.
- Maximise effective use of time and personal ability; work flexibly within own range of competence; undertake the appropriate training and development to extend skills and abilities to meet the needs of the business.
Who you are…
- HNC/Degree qualified (or equivalent) in an appropriate Engineering discipline.
- Time served apprenticeship or previous technician experience desirable
- Proven experience in developing and reviewing technical documentation.
- Proactive and analytical mindset, capable of working independently and taking initiative.
- Solid understanding of quality standards and requirements within the UK nuclear regulatory framework or similarly regulated environments.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Outstanding organisational and IT skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
- Knowledge of maintenance practices applied in large engineering organisations across the mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines.
- Previous experience using an Asset Management tool.
