SCOPE OF POSITION
ConeTec Group is  looking to hire a control systems engineer in Belo Horizonte Brazil (Remote or On-site, depending on project)responsible for developing and maintaining the control system for hybridized heavy duty vehicle systems. The engineer will work with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure the vehicle control system meets all requirements and will debug and support field commissioning. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in PLCs and electrical schematics, as well as hands-on experience with field commissioning. The developer must be a self-starter with strong team-working and communication skills, well-organized and committed to a high standard of work.

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and program PLCs for an industrial vehicle system (EPEC, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.)
Develop and program human machine interfaces (HMI) using commercially available industrial products.
Understand basic electrical schematics, block diagrams, and cable assemblies.
Commission and debug control systems on-site and remotely, resolving automation issues and implementing corrective actions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers
Provide accurate and detailed documentation.
Ensure compliance with local electrical and safety codes (e.g., NR-10, NR-12)

Profile

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
3+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems engineering
Proficient in PLC/HMI programming (e.g., Structured Text, Ladder Logic)
Experience with hands-on electrical routing, assembly, and debugging in an industrial or automotive environment
Familiar with industrial CANbus communication protocols, specifically CANOpen and J1939
Experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical or similar)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Fluent in Portuguese; full working proficiency in English
Willingness to travel for commissioning or site support (as needed)

Preferred:

Experience with machine safety and functional safety standards
Exposure to manufacturing, mining, or geotechnical equipment
Experience with hydraulics systems
Experience with networking systems

 

WORKING CONDITIONS
Travel is a regular part of this role, often to remote locations.
Flexibility in schedule and responsibilities is key.
Field visits, equipment oversight, and client-facing meetings are routine.
