Position - HV/Protection Service Engineer
Location – Plymouth/Bristol
Travel - Required at the office in Bristol or Plymouth 2/3 days per week and 2/3 days remote.

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferable.
A HV/Protection Service Engineer will be responsible for the design of electrical HV and LV distribution systems, including insulation, transformers, circuit breakers (including SiL2 level), circuit breaker monitoring and tripping, switchgear and power transmission systems.
Profile
Essential Experience and Qualifications for a HV/Protection Service Engineer:
- Design of control & instrumentation systems.
- Experience of substantiation of SIL and high integrity systems for justification of Nuclear Safety functions.
- Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to post and project requirements.
- Sound understanding of company and departmental procedures relating to Health and Safety, Design and quality
- The post holder must be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in the technical management of complex design development throughout the design lifecycle
- Provide expert advice to the sub-contracted design houses to enable them to develop the design
- Provide expert advice to the installation sub-contractor to enable them to install the design
- Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post and project requirements
- Sound project specification, planning, project management and budgeting experience
- Sound understanding of Company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety and Quality requirements, and ability to manage projects in accordance with these procedures.
- Working knowledge of relevant engineering office computer application
- Experience of the design support to construction, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities
Education required for a HV/Protection Service Engineer:
- A degree or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards.
