Description of the assignment
Carmacks, in partnership with Peters Bros, is looking to hire a Inventory Accountant
What is the role?
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Inventory Accountant is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of scale ticket data, inventory quantity reporting, and customer billing related to aggregate operations. The role supports finance and operations through reconciliation, reporting, and controls, and provides relief scale house coverage when required.
Duties and responsibilities are:
E‑Tons & Inventory Control
- Review and validate E‑Tons scale ticket data for accuracy and completeness
Accounts Receivable Support
- Prepare customer invoices based on approved scale tickets
- Apply payments and assist with account reconciliations
- Respond to billing inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
Relief Scale House Coverage (As Needed Only)
- Provide scale house coverage during absences
- Weigh inbound/outbound trucks using E‑Tons
- Process cash, debit, and credit card payments in accordance with company procedures
- Balance daily payment activity and submit documentation to Finance
- Provide professional customer service to drivers and clients
Administrative & General Support
- Maintain accurate records and filing systems
- Assist with reporting and ad hoc analysis
- Provide coverage to other finance departments during peak periods or staff absences
- Ensure correct material, quantity, customer, and job/ship‑to coding
- Review all data received from scale shack operators for completeness and accuracy
- Prepare and maintain inventory continuity schedules
- Reconcile quantities issued to inventory records and investigate variances
- Support month‑end inventory reporting and audit requests
Profile
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in inventory control, AR, scale data, or construction materials preferred
- Experience handling cash and electronic payments
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Proficiency with Excel and ERP or ticketing systems
Salary range is between $60,000-$70,000/yr, depending on qualifications and experiences.
