Description of the assignment

What is the role?

Reporting to the HR Director, Western Canada, the position of Recruiter is responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the recruitment process in the organization.

  • Full cycle recruitment for Western Canada, coordinating with each company’s HR Management, Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia
  • Assist HR Director and Mobility Specialist with Temporary Foreign Worker program, including travel coordination etc.
  • Updating and creating interview plans, job descriptions or other HR documentation where required
  • Complete onboarding for all hourly or salary positions for relevant assigned areas
  • Promote employee referral program, follow up with all referrals
  • Coordination, enrollment, and communications for the Carmacks Office Supervisory benefit plan
  • Coordinates, communicates and posts the annual employee spotlights
  • Coordinate and attend Career fairs when required
  • Monitor and review annual field personnel employee change forms and ensure wage increases are approved before sending to Payroll
  • Maintain diversity partnerships by communicating open positions regularly and coordinating placement when possible
  • Maintain reward program, distribute certificates, and communicate point allocation quarterly to management
  • Process business unit transfers, ensure contracts are updated, and process VP approved increases for applicable areas
  • Complete exit surveys for assigned areas to employees who voluntarily resign; collects information, analyzes and reports out on trends
  • Ability to travel within Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC, less than 5% travel required

  • 5+ years in a similar role with a proven track record in a recruitment role with responsibility for screening, interviewing, and hiring for multiple positions concurrently
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Excellent computer literacy and application skills with commonly used office productivity tools
  • Skilled at researching, investigating and garnering information from internet and other resources
  • Experience in the construction industry a definite asset
  • Experience prioritizing high volume, high priority tasks and be able to respond quickly
