Description of the assignment
BA Blacktop is currently looking for a Shop Equipment Foreperson to join our Fraser Valley Area team!
JOB PURPOSE
To be the first contact in case of equipment emergencies and ensure all the fleet and his crew can work efficiently.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Site Safety Standards
- Have a strong knowledge of our Company Safety Policies and Procedures
- Ensure that safety procedures in accordance with the company’s Safety Policies are being followed
- Maintain a high level of safety and liability awareness at all times
- Lead Daily Work Plan meetings
- Perform and record Weekly Tailgate meetings
- In addition to the monthly inspection, perform regular shop inspections and share findings with all team members
- Enforce Company Safety Manual and policies, WorkSafe BC and WHMIS regulations at all times
- Ensure constant use of Personal Protective Equipment and have required supplies ‘on hand’ prior to the need
- Ensure Lockout Procedures are followed
- Ensure the shop stays clean and in a safe and organized manner at all time
Leadership and Supervision

Operations
- Ensure team members are properly equipped, trained, and informed to complete tasks efficiently
- Promote professionalism and cleanliness on-site, including debris removal before leaving
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and presentation of all trucks and equipment
- Ensure accurate, daily submission of timesheets
- Review and approve equipment in/out inspections
- Maintain high standards of work quality and timely completion of inspections
- Set priorities and schedules for winter equipment maintenance
- Coordinate breakdown and repair requests with HETs or subcontractors
- Communicate equipment availability issues and follow up as needed
- Create and manage daily and weekly schedules for Technicians
- Monitor repair progress and report equipment status to relevant teams
- Prepare on-call and afternoon shift schedules as required
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams and sketches
- Operate a variety of vehicles and equipment as needed
- Control repair and maintenance costs while ensuring quality
- Identify and address deficiencies proactively
Profile
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Qualifications
- Heavy Duty Equipment Technician diploma
- Minimum 5 years experience as Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician
- Class 3 w/air drivers’ license
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong communication skills with multiple different stakeholders
- A desire to learn and teach; a passion to excel and to strive to get the most out of employees
- WHMIS
- Occupational First aid Level 1
Desirable Qualifications
- Red Seal certification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Occupational First aid Level 2
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ON THE ROLE
The Shop Equipment Foreperson leads daily operations to support our construction projects. This role is responsible for enforcing safety standards, coordinating inspections, and ensuring equipment is properly maintained and ready for use. Strong leadership is key to maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organized shop environment.
Pay: $50.00 per hour
Location: Fraser Valley Area
