Role: Deputy Security Controller

Location: Glasgow

Salary: £35,000 - £39,500

 

NUVIA is seeking a proactive and detail‑driven Deputy Security Controller to support security operations within our Glasgow office. This role is ideal for someone with emerging security experience looking to strengthen their career within the nuclear and defence sectors, working alongside experienced security and project teams.

 

About the Role

As the Deputy Security Controller, you will assist in delivering robust security standards across personnel, physical, and asset security. You’ll support compliance with MOD and government requirements, contribute to security risk management, and help ensure the safe and secure operation of NUVIA’s projects.

You’ll also play a key part in promoting a strong security culture across staff, visitors, and subcontractors - an essential element of NUVIA’s commitment to safety and integrity.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Supporting the Security Controller in implementing and maintaining NUVIA’s Security Management System.
  • Assisting with personnel security, vetting coordination, and handling of sensitive information for Glasgow and Defence contract  linked activities.
  • Helping manage secure facilities and protectively marked assets, including storage, movement, auditing, and disposal.
  • Supporting security incident response, investigations, and root‑cause actions.
  • Delivering or assisting with security awareness training to staff and the supply chain.
  • Contributing to security audits, compliance checks, and MOD/government assurance processes.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams, project managers, subcontractors, and external security stakeholders.
  • Providing basic IT‑related security support (e.g., asset tracking, secure handling requirements, supply chain vulnerabilities, pen tests/IT Health Checks) alongside NUVIA’s technical teams.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in a defence, government, nuclear, or security‑focused environment.
  • Understanding of MOD or government security frameworks (GovS 007, JSPs).
  • High attention to detail and the ability to handle classified information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with personnel at all levels.
  • A technically aware mindset and willingness to learn about digitally complex projects.
  • A proactive, organised approach to managing multiple security activities.

 

Requirements

Existing SC clearance or eligibility for UK SC with no nationality restrictions
