Description of the assignment

Position – Sharepoint Administrator
Location – UKAEA Site 
Travel – Required in the office 3 days per week and 2 remote 
Arrangement – Staffed

The role is accountable to the JDR Management Systems Project Manager for for the development of a medium to long-term JDR Programme-wide strategy for the effective planning and delivery of the JDR SharePoint platform to meet current and anticipated JDR Programme requirements whilst ensuring immediate SharePoint requirements are met. They will manage the production of technical documentation (including strategy, design philosophy, design bases and other technical framework definition documents), and prepare the JDR Programme SharePoint system for transition to sustainable “business as usual” (BAU) operation.

Profile

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The person undertaking this role shall be responsible to:
  • Collaborate with UKAE Computing & SharePoint Admin Teams to ensure alignment with organizational standards and requirements.
  • Design and implement SharePoint infrastructure in line with programme and UKAEA specifications.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade SharePoint systems to maintain optimal functionality.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls for secure and efficient operations.
  • Develop and maintain content databases and site collections to support business needs.
  • Coordinate with developers to deploy and support custom SharePoint solutions.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users and system issues.
  • Monitor system performance, security, and capacity, addressing stability and availability concerns.
  • Plan and execute backup and disaster recovery operations for SharePoint
    environments.
  • Create and maintain documentation for policies, procedures, and user guides.
  • Deliver training and guidance to end-users and project teams to ensure effective SharePoint usage.
  • Collaborate with IT teams (network, systems, software) to resolve integration and framework issues.

  • SharePoint architecture: Sites, libraries, workflows, permissions management
  • SharePoint Server & SharePoint Online: Installation, configuration, maintenance
  • Microsoft 365 ecosystem: Integration with Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate
  • PowerShell scripting for SharePoint administration & automation
  • SharePoint security: Access control, user permissions
  • Backup, restore, recovery processes
  • Performance tuning & optimisation techniques
  • Monitoring & reporting tools for SharePoint performance

Data governance, compliance, and security requirements


Web development basics (are desirable): Workflows & customisations, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SharePoint Designer (are desirable).


Experience

  • Managing SharePoint content management systems & document libraries
  • Configuring and managing SharePoint security settings
  • Planning and managing SharePoint for complex programme/project requirements
  • Working with hybrid SharePoint environments (Desirable)
  • Using SharePoint add-ins, third-party tools, and enterprise integrations
  • Troubleshooting SharePoint issues and optimising performance
  • Managing permissions, compliance, and governance
  • Working across on-premises and cloud environments
