Job Title -  Principal and Senior EC&I Engineer

 

Location -  Risley, Warrington

 

Hybrid – Required in the office 3 days per week and 2 days remote

 

Arrangement – Contract

We are seeking an experienced Senior Control, Electrical, and Instrumentation (CE&I) Engineer to join our team. This role will require the delivery of work packages across various system scopes for all three SEP machines, focusing on solving a wide variety of CE&I challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering fit-for-purpose CE&I design solutions on time and within budget, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Profile

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Deliver CE&I design solutions for complex systems across multiple SEP machines, ensuring solutions meet the necessary technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Break down complex problems into manageable parts, offering clear options for resolution and selecting the best solutions.
  • Contribute to the production, delivery, and reporting of work plans and schedules.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with various stakeholders, ensuring clarity and timely updates.
  • Apply a deep understanding of regulations relevant to the delivery of CE&I equipment (e.g., CDM, PUWER, Machinery Safety BS13849/62061, BS7671, UKCA/CE, and industrial installation methods).
  • Review and check engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practices.
  • Review, understand, and challenge electrical power calculations in line with BS 7671 or equivalent standards.
  • Create and review design specifications, ensuring they meet project requirements and supporting panel build/installation queries.
  • Produce design risk assessments, installation method statements, EO packs, quality requirements, and operations and maintenance (O&M) documents.
  • Contribute to the production and review of functional safety designs (IEC 61508) and safety case deliverables

 

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Preferred Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in delivering CE&I design solutions that meet project costs and schedules.
  • Strong ability to break down complex problems into constituent parts and present practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the production, delivery, and reporting of work plans and progress.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations relevant to CE&I equipment delivery, including CDM, PUWER, Machinery Safety (BS13849/62061), BS7671, and industrial installation methods.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, including the ability to check and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Proficient in reviewing, understanding, and challenging electrical power calculations in accordance with BS 7671 or equivalent.

 


Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Strong evidence of applying engineering judgment to make evidence- and risk-based decisions.
  • Experience in creating design specifications and resolving panel build/installation queries and issues.
  • Knowledge and experience in producing design risk assessments, installation method statements, EO packs, supporting quality requirements, and O&M documents.
  • Familiarity with the production of technical files, deliverables, and the EHSRs.
